Heads or Tails?

Maybe they're not speaking to each other. Or maybe it's a strategy for the species to survive predation: whichever end of the pair a predator latches onto, only one will lose its head! Or maybe it's just a coincidence that they're positioned head-to-tail like this...that's less fun to ponder, though!
